My Favorites on Friday

This picture was taken the same time my last Friday favorite was taken. It has always been one of my favorites. I need to blow it up big and hang it up right outside the boy's room. There has been a lot of fighting between these two lately. Maybe this will remind them that they really do like each other.

11

My little one is quickly becoming "not so little" anymore. She has really changed this month and is leaving her babyhood behind even though I continue to pull her back. I still just can't get enough of her sweet little face.

Emery at 11 months

*loves the new found freedom that crawling has provided*
*is into everything*
*eats every meal like it might be her last*
*still is toothless*
*loves to play peek-a-boo*
*loves the vaccuum but is terrified of the blender or any other small appliance*
* is scared of balloons*
*pulls herself up on the windowsill and will watch for as long as her legs will last*
*is a great sleeper, but wont let me cuddle her to sleep*
*makes me happy everyday*

Such excitement...

Our weekend consisted of this...

Pinewood Derby
Carter placed 3rd. I was just excited that his car was done and I didn't have to do a thing to it.   He has great leaders who spent a lot of time helping him get it ready. I think we should just keep it for next year. I love the picture of him and Brendan.  He was so excited, probably even a little more excited than Carter. We celebrated by taking a little trip to Circle K for icees.

We also spent a lot of time rescueing Emery. She can pull herself up to standing like a pro, but is not so good at getting down. We listened to a lot of begging and whimpering. I also caught her trying to climb the stairs.

What's a weekend ( or really every other day) without a little of this...

...it's a losing battle in a never ending war.

Corey and I ended the weekend with the series finale of Lost. I am still not sure how I feel about. I really had a love/hate relationship with that show. I couldn't pull myself away, but nothing was ever answered. So frustrating. I find myself still thinking about it today.

I know exciting, huh? I don't mind the uneventful weekends though; now on to another week.

I hear some whimpering, better go rescue Emery.

My favorites on Friday

I take a lot of pictures and as I was going through a bunch of them the other day, I thought it might be fun to have a reoccuring post and share some of my favorite ones.

This just cracks me up, it's a great one to start with...lovely, isn't it?

Oh no!!

I was cooking dinner in the kitchen, I heard Emery laughing, when I came around the corner of the couch, I saw this...

...she was so proud of herself. Didn't she just start crawling last week?!!

(although she was crying two minutes later when she pulled the lamp off the end table onto herself)

Tooting my own horn

When I was young I remember going to visit my Grandma Pierson and how much fun we would have. There were so many things I remember, but I have always remembered how she used to french braid all the girls hair. Now she could braid your hair so tight, I mean like instant face lift, stay in for a week kind of tight.

When I had Hailey, I was so excited to get to do her hair, but french braiding was something that always eluded me. I knew the concept, but my hands couldn't follow the image in my head as well as I liked. I have been practicing though. I taught myself how to do small sections. Today I ventured into pigtails. Now they are certainly not as tight as my Grandma's but they turned out way better than any of my previous attempts. I guess I just have to practice a lot more to achieve the pull your eyes into a slant tightness that I remember as a child.

Built in playdate

Brendan has been home sick from school for the last couple of days. Today he has been much better; he and Hailey have been playing all day in the toyroom. It makes me a little sad for him to start first grade next year, he won't admit it I am sure, but I think he likes having her as a playdate.

They have been playing so well, I have even been able to ignore the mess they made...  almost... we'll see how long I can last!!

Goings on

Last week...

Emery finally got all her limbs to cooperate and work together; she is now is an expert crawler.
Everything is now fair game. I have got to get a little more baby-proofed around here.

Hailey made a quick recovery and her jawline is back to it's normal size. She was so relieved when she took her last dose of antibiotic on Sunday. I don't blame her, that stuff smelled really bad, I felt bad she had to take it. We had to get creative and resort to bribery to get some of the doses in her.

We finished up with baseball. The opposing team for Brendan's last game didn't have enough players, so Kayden and Carter got pulled off the sidelines to help out. I had to remind them to not take it too seriously. Stealing the ball away from other t-ballers might not be a shining moment for them.

We also enjoyed a great Mother's day. Breakfast and dinner were cooked and dishes done without me having to lift a finger!! (Although Corey cooks dinner every Sunday, he's good like that) Brendan made me cards all week and gave me lots of hugs. I took advantage of all I could get, Brendan is not always so lovey, dovey, I have to enjoy it while I can.

Birthday Wishes

Today is my mom's birthday. So since we can't be there, we just want to send birthday wishes her way...

Happy Birthday

We love you and hope you enjoy your day!!
(Pictures of my mom are hard to come by so she will love this one, I guess I am going to have to better about getting pictures of her!!)

Please explain....

How is it that a baby, who is not crawling, is into so much already?!!

The cabinets in the entertainment center are by far her favorite place to get to.

The blinds are quite fascinating too

So it begins, and I am sure it's only going to get worse!!

Until next year..

My kids look forward to the carnival every year. They had a great time. Only thing, I paid for their wristbands so they could play all the games, and all Hailey wanted to do was play hopscotch on the playground. Now we just have to wait another year till it rolls around again.
