What's wrong with people??!!

It's has been a struggle for my boys to learn to ride their bikes. So, about a year ago, we went and bought them new, bigger bikes in hopes to motivate them a little more. Kayden is still a work in progress, but Carter finally got it and loves to ride his. With the nice weather we have had, he has been outside everyday riding with his friends around the neighborhood. Today was no exception. Being that it was Friday, and he didn't have homework, he literally came home and was almost immediately back outside to get on his bike. Except today, he came right back in and told me his bike wasn't in the backyard. I went out to look with him and sure enough it was gone. All the other bikes were there, but no sign of his. I thought maybe he had left it at one of his friends and just forgot to ride it home. I called around, but had no luck. It's absolutely maddening. Why would someone only take his bike? The gate has a lock on it. It's just weird. And eventhough it's just a bike, it's violating as well. Poor kid, seriously, what is wrong with people-why steal a kid's bike?! I guess it's neccesary to lock up the bikes in your locked backyard.

Just to prove my point...

The girl really does love her CMT.

When you have nothing better to do...

...why not fill up the bathroom sink with water and dunk your head in it. I know I was liking the fact that they are finally playing well together, but this was not exactly what I had in mind!!

Life just can't be planned!!!

I'm a planner. I'll be the first to admit that. I like to know what's coming and what's on the schedule. Don't get me wrong, I can be flexible and like a little spontineity, but for the most part, I like a good routine.

Well, as we all know, life is not always in a good rountine. It just can't always be planned, as much as anyone might try. Sometimes you get thrown a curve.

First is was my calling as primary president (that was a real curve)...

then just a few days later it was this....

Due Date: July 19th

( I know it's almost impossible to make out other people's ultrasounds, but just imagine a cute little bean there)

Yes, you are seeing this on my blog. Number 5, is that not just scary?! We were totally not expecting it. We have lived life in a little bit of a fog. We were done having children, but apparently we were wrong in our thinking. It has been a huge shock (to say the very least) and I'm still not sure if it has completely sunk in yet. It has been a whirlwind of emotions, but seeing it on screen today definetly made it real. Trust me, I will have no problem loving this little one, but it surely was not what I had planned.

Maybe that is what I am supposed to learn from all this-that life indeed can't be planned. (I'm sure that there might have been an easier way to learn that though)!

I told you so!

Books on the bunkbed...

It's no secret that Brendan is really very fond of Carter. He does everything with him. So much so that when Carter is around he very rarely will play with anyone else. This has been the case for a long time. When Carter is at school and it's just us at home, Brendan can get pretty bored. Some of this has been relieved by having friends over to play or vice versa. For the longest time, when he has come to me in his boredom, I have repeatedly suggested that he play with Hailey. His response has always been that he doesn't like girls. I've tried hard to convince him that she would play with him and will play just about anything he wants. (She is well seasoned in the art of playing all things boy). Nothing would convice him. Then suddenly, in just the last few weeks, he has come around. He has found a new friend. It has been wonderful. Finally, they can entertain each other and he has learned that, maybe, girls aren't so bad after all.

Where does the time go?!

What happened?! I am now the mother of a 10 year old! That's scary-not only does that make him older, but it makes me just old!

Celebration was really low key-since it was Sunday and my weekend was really busy. I did take him out to lunch on Friday. Just he and I, it was really nice.

He got some more Ben 10 toys, more money, and a BB Gun. A little scary, I know, but they had such a good time target shooting when we went camping, that we figured it would be fun to work that in a little more often. We had cake and ice cream (he wanted a flag cake) and called it a night.
Happy Birthday Kayden!!

Some things about Kayden...

He remembers everything that he reads/sees (even from years ago)

He doesn't really like candy or sweets (except doughnuts)

He loves to build with legos

He loves to draw and make up his own designs and blue prints for future inventions

His favorite food is chicken rolls

He definetly adds a lot to our family and we love having him around.

Only a Week Late!!

We had a great Christmas this year, and like every year the kids ended up with way too much stuff and we are still trying to find a place for it all. The boys are loving their new games for the Wii and Hailey is a real "pop star" with her new microphone and quitar. (She actually told me that she was a pop star now when she saw her quitar-I don't know how a 2 year old knows what that is, but she is convinced.) We enjoyed a nice relaxing day, we never even got out of our pajamas-nothing better than having Christmas dinner in your pajamas! We were really blessed and loved seeing the kids so happy.

The kids were also so excited because they got money from their great grandparents that they were able to go pick out a couple more things. The boys all picked out more Ben 10 toys, but for Hailey we got her the Taylor Swift CD. She loves the "Love Story" song. It is so funny, if we have CMT on and she hears it she runs as fast as she can to come and watch it- I swear she doesn't even blink when it is on. And she sings it constantly. She was so excited when she realized what it was except she was confused that she couldn't see the video at the same time. The CD also came with a poster from the video-you would have thought it was Christmas all over again-she was so excited!

Seriously, what other 2 year old is already so obsessed with music and being a pop star?!
