Celebrations

Carter

Carter's breakfast request was cinnamon rolls, he wanted tacos for dinner with lemon cake. He got the two things he wanted most, a Pokemon game for his DS and a BB gun ( I tried to tell him that he would shoot his eye out, but he just gave me a weird look) and a couple of surprises thrown in. We even had a couple of cousins come into to town and were able to celebrate with him. He was really impatient waiting a couple of days though to spend some of his birthday money . The new Lego Harry Potter game came out the day of Brendan's birthday. Money burns a hole in his pocket and I think it took all the patience he could muster waiting for that.  I think he enjoyed his day even though we kept things small.

Emery

She had no idea what was going on. But she loved us singing to her and she throughly enjoyed her piece of cake. I have been trying to convince myself that she is not really that old, but it was fun to celebrate anyway.

Brendan

Brendan wanted to have cowboy cake for breakfast and meat with A1 for dinner. I was surprised he came up with anything, he is so picky that I never know if he even eats. He also got a new game for his DS and a new Lego Bionicle. He was so excited for that he was almost shaking. He also decided that he would rather go out for frozen yogurt than have cake. I wasn't too sad about that choice, I had already made enough cake. It was another good day, but I am glad our birthdays are over for awhile. I feel like I already need to start planning for next year.

To my baby

Tommorow my baby celebrates her first birthday. I had a little talk with her and really tried to tell her not to get this big, but she wouldn't listen.

She is my little surprise baby. I was not so thrilled when I found out I was pregnant again. I really felt that four was a good number and that our family was complete. And let's face it, pregnancy is just not too fun. I was so worried that because I had all this feelings and that since it was such a shock, I wouldn't be able to love this baby as much as I loved the others. (Corey now teases me about this often when I am smothering her.) But in those first few minutes after she was born, and I saw her little face, I knew I didn't need to worry anymore.  I have loved every little minute with her. She has been the best little baby and not only do I love her, but so does everyone else. The kids really can't get enough of her either.  We all love her to pieces and truly can't imagine not having her around. I still think she is the best surprise ever.

Happy Birthday to my Emery!!!

Since this is usually my favorites on Friday I am going to throw this picture on here

I had Emery all dressed to take some pictures and she was not thrilled about the tutu, her face clearly shows it.

Back to Reality

We're back from an 11 day vacation.

We had such a good time

1 mom + 5 kids
 drove 1500+ miles
visited family and caught up with great friends
ate some really good food
one trip to the urgent care
2 teeth lost
1 sunburn and 1 striped suntan
swimming, sandcastles, and picnics
200 pictures taken
grateful for a safe return and happy to see are own beds
wishing it wasn't over so quickly

(I will post more of our vacation when I can go through all my pictures- yes, I did really take 200, but we have 3 birthdays to celebrate around here so we have to be ready to party.)

I have already mentioned before that my brother and SIL have a great little toy company- they need a little help- go here and click on "like this" please. This will help her stay on the list!!

My Kayden

I have pretty much made my boys responsible for cleaning their own rooms. However, I find that about once a month I just have to go in and clean a little deeper. Especially in Kayden's room. He tends to be a bit of a pack rat and a little messy. Now if you know me, I am kind of the opposite. I really like things clean. It's hard for me to only go in once a month. While I was doing some dusting the other day, I just had to laugh at this....

... his leisure reading, a book on George Bush. And the nerds, he worked to earn in piano a few weeks ago. They aren't even opened. That's just like him. He doesn't hardly ever eat candy. If that was Carter's he would have eaten it on the way home. An Kayden reads everything he can and remembers it all. So funny, how two simple things say so much!!

Baby Toy?

I pulled this play table out for Emery the other day, but I am not sure who is getting more amusement out of it. Brendan and Hailey are always playing with it. They switch it to Spanish and I think they have the Spanish alphabet memorized. I wouldn't be surprised if Emery's first word was "Hola".

My Favorites on Friday

I snapped this one a while ago. I just love when these two play together. Notice her hand resting on his leg, love it.

Happy Weekend!!

Sunday evening concert

Ever since I gave in to Carter and let him quit piano, he has not touched it, not once. I was totally shocked when I heard him playing last night. It didn't take long for everyone to join him. Hailey pulled out her quitar and Emery helped pound out some tunes. They were upset with me when I told them that it was bedtime and they would have to continue their concert at a later date.

Stars Wars action figures are always welcome at any gathering.

I had to take this picture with Emery's "duck binkie". She insists on having it in her mouth at bathtime and will not give it up until bedtime.

End of school festivities

Brendan had his first field day. He loved every minute of it and left with blue popsicle on his chin to remember the good time he had.
He also graduated from kindergarten. I really tried to convince him not to, but he insisted.

We also attended award ceremonies and Kayden's elementary school graduation. Once again, I tried convince him not to graduate, but I didn't have any luck there either.
I went to pick them up afterschool today- I don't always do that because they like to walk with their friends- and they didn't want the ride. I had to take a picture to mark the occasion since I won't have my kids in the same school anymore. I really can't believe I am old enough to have a child in middle school.  Kayden thinks he is ready, but I am not sure I am.

Weekend Events

We enjoyed our long weekend, even though it seemed to go by so fast. On Friday, Corey took the older kids and went to meet his family to go camping. They were gone until late Saturday night and Emery and I were all alone. I was so excited to have a little peace and quiet, but it was almost too quiet. Poor little Emery was just lost. She kept crawling from room to room looking for the kids. She really didn't know what to do with herself. She and I did get in some good shopping time though. I sent Corey with a camera and told him to take pictures. Mostly he took some really obnoxious ones of the camp itself like random trees and pop cans, but he did get a few cute shots of the kids.
The kids had the best time. Riding on 4-wheelers and shooting the BB gun seemed to be a couple of  the favorite things. I love the picture of Hailey with the BB gun, it's every mothers dream to see their daughter with a gun. They were not very happy about coming home. Carter even said it was more fun than playing with his friends. If you know Carter at all, that says a lot.

Monday was pretty low-key. We went to lunch and for frozen yogurt. We BBQ'd for dinner and the kids played outside. It was hard to face the morning, but only another day and a half and summer officially begins!!
