Pioneer Celebration

To celebrate Pioneer Day, we decided to make a quick trip to Utah to visit Corey's family and celebrate with them. It was a lot of fun. The kids got to run free, play with all their cousins, and it was especially nice to get out of the heat for a couple of days. Here are a few of the things that we did.

The boys even got to ride on a float. Great Grandpa Huntman turns 100 this year, so he had his own float. Hailey and Emery were still asleep and missed the whole thing, but the boys loved it and got a whole bunch of candy.

Corey also took the kids to the rodeo and they loved it. It was a nice break for everyone and kind of hard to leave. We, of course, made a stop in St. George to eat at Pizza Factory on the way home, no trip would be complete without that.

In 1 months time...

...she has indulged in many late night meals. Has made a significant dent in the diaper stockpile. Dirtied many burp cloths. Been mauled on a daily basis by her siblings. Is starting to show some chubbiness, is up to 10 pounds, and has almost outgrown her newborn clothes. Sleeps for 5 hour stretches. Has grown fond of her binkey. Shows a great intolerance to dirty diapers. Is awake and alert much more. I think I love her more and more everyday.

Hailey's latest obsession

We have been through this before. Carter absolutely loved this movie. He wore the costumes from Halloween on a daily basis. He actually literally wore them out. He slept with the movie case and his Woody doll for months. If he wasn't in costume, he had on his cowboy boots and hat.

Obvioulsy he has moved on to new obsessions and the movie had not been watched in a really long time. Awhile back we sat down to watch a movie together and they decided to watch something they had not watched in a long time. Toy Story 2 was their choice. Well,now Hailey is hooked. She is obsessed. She asks to watch it everyday and insists she is a cowgirl (or sometimes a springy dog). All the toys have been dug out of the buckets and she walks around singing "You've got a friend in me." Too bad Woody was donated to goowill a few months ago and Buzz was broken and thrown out ( kind of ironic huh?). They provided a lot of entertainment.

Although, I have to admit that this is an obsession that I am okay with. I actually really enjoy the movie. And maybe with the new one coming soon we will be able to replace some of our cherished toys. So we will enjoy this for a little while until a new obsession is discovered.

In the last few weeks...

...not only did we literally celebrate the birth of a new baby, but we also celebrated a couple of birthdays...

Can you tell what Brendan wanted for his birthday?

We managed to have a small party for them before Emery was born. Brendan had a Star Wars party with his friends, then Carter's friends came and they all had cake and ice cream together before Brendan's friends left and Carter had a movie night with his guests. It was kind of crazy, but the boys had a lot of fun. We now will celebrate 3 birthdays in 6 days at our house, so June will always be a busy month for us.

It's a good thing we had Brendan's celebration early though because on the day of his actual birthday is when we went back to the doctor with the baby and she had to go to the hospital and Brendan started another round of antibiotics for an ear infection. Hopefully, next year will be a little less eventful.

We also celebrated the {4th of July}

My parents were here to help out over the holiday so we BBQ'd and did a few fireworks on the patio. Obviously, with a brand new baby we weren't going far, but the kids still had a good time.

What a life!!

This is really all she does...

This baby is soo good. She cries when I change her diaper and whimpers a little when she is hungry, but otherwise you just don't hear from her. I may be jinxing myself, but I have never had a newborn that is so good, it's amazing!! We are just loving her, and it's good she can tolerate being smothered with kisses and all the attention she gets from her older brothers and sister.

I just removed my baby countdown from the sidebar-it's amazing to think I still had 5 days left-I'm so glad to be enjoying her from the outside!!

The last 5 days have been a whirlwind for us. Our baby made her entrance into the world last Friday. I went to bed the night before thinking that my induction was off because the hospital was too full. I got a call at 1:30 in the morning from the hospital telling me to be there at 3:00 and they could get things going. Things went really well. My doctor was well aware of my history of having fast labors, he was at another hospital for a delivery, so he had things going really slow for me in order for him to time things correctly so he would make it in time. Corey kept telling me that the labor was longer than my first 2 combined. I was in labor for a whole 5 hours. ( I know, sad). I decided to get my epidural when I was dialted to about a 7, just before they broke my water, cause I knew I would start to feel it then. My doctor was on his way, but less than 15 minutes later I was ready to deliver and my doctor wasn't there. They capped off my epidural so that I could not feel a thing in order to stall. He got there just in time. I pushed 3 times ( at least I think I did, I was so numb) and she was delivered.

Recovery was going really well. We came home on Saturday night. I took Emery to the pediatrician on Monday and she was starting to look a little yellow. Most of my babies have been for the first few days, so I wasn't really worried. But the doctor said we better get it checked. We went and had the labwork done then got home and had just sat down to dinner when the phone rang. The doctor said I needed to take her to the hospital to be admitted. I was shocked. She had to be put under lights and recieve IV fluids for the next day and a half. She responded really well and the count was down enough that we were able to come home last night. She looks a lot better today and is doing well, we will have to keep a eye on her for the next little while, but I think she will be just fine.

It has been a rough week. Thank goodness for family that was able to come and take care of the kids so that I could just focus on the baby. I really hope I don't have to see another hospital room for awhile, but am so glad she is doing well. She is such a sweet baby and is such a blessing. We love her full head of dark hair and she has such good kissing cheeks. There is just nothing better than that, even at 3 in the morning.
