Whose kid is that anyway?!

We were out walking this morning, we had just dropped the boys off at the playground and were just starting on our way home. Brendan and his friend, Gavin, were walking ahead of us and had stopped at the corner (the corner where the crosswalk is- also the corner where there were quite a few cars of people dropping their kids off at school). They were just playing, but then I noticed Brendan suddenly drop his drawers and start to pee. I was too far away to stop him. I don't think he had gone the bathroom yet that morning, and probably just couldn't hold it anymore. Desperate times call for desperate measures. By the time I caught up with him there was nothing else to do but pull his pants back up. What do you do? I kind of just had to laugh and ignore all the funny looks from all the passing cars. I guess we will have a little talk about where we can and can't pee!

Earlier this week, Hailey and I got to go with Brendan and his preschool class on a field trip to the dairy. It was a lot of fun. They got to learn all about what products come from the dairy, how they are packaged, and how they make it to the store. (Although, they couldn't quite figure out why there weren't any cows there.) The best part of the whole tour was the free bowl of ice cream- it made their day.

Is It April?!

I could have sworn it was April fool's day when the Bishop called me to meet with him, a week and a half ago, and asked me to be the new Primary president. Really, me, this could be interesting!!

Poor, deprived little children

When we first moved here and I only had two kids, I did a lot with them during the day. We did a lot of classes at the rec center, went swimming, picnics at the park. We also lived pretty close to a library and went there quite a bit for story time and to check out books. Well, fast forward several years and add two more kids, we don't really do as much. The other day the kids were out of school for a couple of days so I decided that we would take a trip to the library. I felt really bad when Brendan asked what it was!! In my defense, we just don't have one very close anymore and we do have a lot of books at home. My kids do get read to. They all had such a good time- the two little ones were just fascinated with how many books were there. Hailey has not parted with the book she picked out. Once they had what we wanted, we picked up some doughnuts and headed home. Of course, we will have to keep going cause we will have to return the books we got. And I won't feel quite as bad about not doing those things with them!! My poor, neglected children.

So disappointing!!

I have already posted about how much I love my trampoline, but even though we thought we had made a really good purchase, things started to go wrong with it.

Soon after we got it, we noticed this...

...the straps that held the enclosure to the poles started to break. It wasn't really a big deal, we just figured it was from the heat, so Corey just tied them up with some twine.

Then we noticed this...

...all the blue covering was literally melting away. We were annoyed, but we weren't sure if this was suppose to happen with the heat or not.

But we knew we were in real trouble when we went out one day and found a spring laying in the dirt. Then slowly more and more springs were found, resulting in this...

...a great big hole from all the missing springs. There was no way to repair it, the whole thing was literally disintegrating. It really looked like it had been set on fire.

This was not a cheap trampoline and it was really heavy duty-we thought it would be a really good purchase. I would have expected it to look like this after 10 years or so, but we had it only a year and a half.

We bought it at Sam's Club-so I went on their website to see if there were any reviews on it (we usually do this before any major purchase, but this was a new product and there were none at the time). Sure enough, everyone else that had purchased it had the same problem. The company had not put the U.V. coating on it. DUH!! That was quite obvious.

The next time I went to Sam's Club, I asked them if there was anything we could do about it. They said they would give us a refund with our receipt, but we needed to bring it back. Corey spent all day taking the thing down and carefully bundling all the parts and we hauled it back. Thank goodness they were willing to take it back.

My kids have really missed having the trampoline (so have I- it's great entertainment). We will probably purchase another one, but not until we do some research.

Seriously, so disappointing!!
