My Favorites on Friday

One of my favorites from Christmas night

Hailey played and played with her dollhouse. Emery came and knocked all the furniture out several times, but she would set it all back up and keep playing. Even the my little ponies got a turn in the house. She didn't even want to take the time to change out of her Christmas dress when we got home from church.

Christmas Morning

I love the excitement of Christmas morning and how the kids can hardly wait to get down the stairs and see if Santa found them the night before. Amazingly, our kids let us sleep until 7:30, I thought they would be up long before then.

The boys got electronics this year, I guess it have to accept the fact that it's the way it's going to be, but I kinda missed the toys.  Except the electronics sure take up less space and are a lot easier to put away.  They are loving them and couldn't be happier though.

There are always a few extras in the loot. Brendan really wanted some angry bird plushies and was excited to get some of those. He and Carter also got their long begged for football jerseys from my parents. I had to peel them off of them today to wash them There were also a couple of lego sets mixed in. It simply doesn't feel like Christmas without some legos.

Hailey couldn't have been more excited about her dollhouse and has played with it nonstop. Emery loves it too, she couldn't have cared less about her own stuff and went straight for it. She has since taken interest in her new baby and other things she recieved,  She was a pro at opening presents too, we had to keep her from opening everyone elses.

We were able to enjoy a relaxing morning. (It was probably the one and only Sunday that I have been thankful for our late church time.) Then we were able to come back home, put our PJ's back on, listen to Christmas music and have  a great dinner together.

My Favorites on Friday

I can't believe another week has just flown by. It's been a busy one, but full of some fun things. Brendan and Hailey had their Christmas programs at school and here are a few of my favorite from them.

My Favorites on Friday

One of my favorite reads
I finished this last week. It is an amazing story of survival. I still find myself thinking about it. It's definitely worth reading.

(Dad, I think you would even like this one)

This and that...again

Wednesday is usually my cleaning day. I have been trying to get the girls involved with me, but they would much rather jump on my bed. As soon as they notice the sheets are off, it becomes their favorite place.
Emery does pitch and do her share though.
Hailey says some of the funniest things, but there is one little story I have been meaning to write down because it's worth remembering.
She is totally smitten by a boy in her class. She would come home and talk, and talk all about him. I finally got her tell me his name. She told me his name was Nick Daniel. I have been in to help out some in her classroom and that name just didn't sound familiar. Then one day when I was picking her up the kids all had hats on with their names written on them. She pointed out her "boyfriend" and his hat said Nathaniel. I corrected her about his name and she was so embarrassed, but I just thought it was so funny. She still talks about him all time and even said today that she wished she lived with him. I am a little worried. I guess, at least now, she knows his name.

We went to Carter's end of football season banquet the other night. He had a good time seeing everybody  and was so excited to get his trophy even though he tried to play it cool. I am so proud of him for making it through the season, it was so much fun and really taught him to work through something tough.

Emery has not been napping consistently around here. She still needs a nap, but sometimes just parties in her bed instead of going to sleep. I am not ready for her to give it up, I still need that time and most days that she skips result in her crashing somewhere. I don't like this stage.

And just for fun. I saw this idea on Pinterest, of course. I thought it was such a good way to show and corral all that fun artwork the kids bring home. I hung these clipboards up in the toy room and I have somewhere to put it all besides the fridge.  Now we just need the Christmas projects to start coming to replace the Thanksgiving ones.

My Favorites on Friday

my favorite places in the house right now

it's always so much work to get it all done, but I love it
The kids did all the decorating on the main tree. I haven't really touched it since they decorated it except for the ornaments that Emery just set on the branches and kept falling off. She is fascinated by some little gingerbread men ornaments on there. She keeps taking them off to play with them, but I found one with the head missing this morning.  She is a great helper. She also helped me do the little front tree too. She only broke two ornaments in the process, but she had a great time and was so excited. It wouldn't be nearly as fun without sharing in their excitement.

Now I just have to get my shopping done.
