In plain sight

My parents came for a visit this past weekend. We all love having company, but of course, the girls especially love to play with Grandpa. One of the favorite things was playing hide and seek. Always interesting with little kids. 

This is where my dad hid on one of the rounds.

 The girls could not find him and were looking everywhere. I was laughing so hard I could hardly take the picture and my dad was laughing making the curtains shake, but they still walked right by.

They eventually caught on, but it took quite awhile.

Of course, Emery hid there every round after.

My favorites on Friday and random other things

These are a few favorites from the last week. I haven't been very good at taking pictures lately, so really these are all I have from the last week or two.

The kids celebrated the 100th day of school, can you tell?

 Emery brought her trike in from the backyard and has been riding it inside. I love her way of riding it though, she just refuses to sit on the seat.

 We bought Lady and the Tramp on Saturday. The kids watched it on Saturday and again on Sunday afternoon. I love that movie and I love that it even captured Brendan's attention too.

 I have been making homemade rolls on Sunday afternoons. I am still perfecting them, but they sure taste good and the kids love having the leftovers the next day too.

 Since nap time doesn't happen everyday, and the days it does, it sometimes takes a little convincing. So I love the days that I don't have to fight and she falls asleep on the way home from taking Hailey to school. We had two of those days this week.

My favorites on Friday

One of these things is not like the other...

A little discovery I made while dusting. Not sure who the culprit was or how long it had been there, it blends in so nicely. Maybe decorating with wiffle balls is a good idea though, they seem to make a pretty good filler.

Two of the favorite words around our house lately...

"dang" and "sorry"

both used by Emery

"Dang" took me awhile to figure out. She mostly uses it when I tell her "no" and when I put in her in solitary in her crib. She says "sorry" all day, it's pretty funny, especially when she uses it after she has done her time in solitary confinement. Which is a little too often.

I have always said this girl is just something else. She rules with an iron fist.  She is so much fun and totally cracks me up, but totally wears me out too. She is just over the top independent. Everything from making her own toast or oatmeal in the morning, to buckling herself in her car seat, how she wants her hair done, if at all, and clothes are a whole other issue. I usually just let her pick, but if she thinks I have even so much as thought about something she should wear, she won't touch it. Same with her shoes. She looks a little interesting some days. This age just wears me out. It's a good thing she gives us a good laugh every now and then.
