Starting after Thanksgiving, the talk in our morning carpool run was all about everybody's Elf on the Shelf. With all the talk about how much fun it was to have one, Hailey decided she needed one. I wasn't really to sure about it. It sounded like extra work to me, but when we went to my parent's house for Thanksgiving she told them all about it. They couldn't disappoint her and had one sent to our house.
My younger kids were all so excited. Ecstatic actually. When he arrived we read his story and the kids decided to name him William.
His first night in the house, he decided to help get us started on decorating the tree. We had put it up the night before, but hadn't been able to put ornaments on it yet.
Another morning the kids found him in the toy room having a tea party with some of the other toys.
I didn't get pictures every morning of his antics, but he was fun to try and find. He was found hanging from the light, reading under the tree, driving the pony car, watching the tv with remote in hand, enjoying hot chocolate and cookies, coloring in the coloring books, playing Christmas carols, and many more things. One morning he even toilet papered the tree and then made himself a bed with it.
There were a couple of "accidental" touching incidents by Emery, but luckily he was able to make a quick recovery from them and return to his normal routine. I think he learned he had to stay out of her reach just to avoid any further problems after that.
Emery insisted on taking the picture of the tree. Which explains why it is out of focus.
We did have a lot of fun with him staying in our house and the carpool conversations only got more lively. The kids are missing him and can't wait for him to return next year.
