A bunch of stuff

This past weekend we made a quick trip to Utah to meet this new little one...

...my brother's new little girl, Daphne, and to attend her blessing.

It was so fun to see everyone. My family is not all together very often so it was really nice. And, of course, my kids love going to see all the cousins and grandpa and grandma.

Although this is pretty much what Hailey did the whole time we were there..

...she sat on "her friend" Papa's lap. She really pretty much never leaves his side.

The weekend was short though and on the way home Hailey was not very excited about being stuck in the car. She whined and cried the whole way. She wouldn't pay attention to any of the movies and just kept saying she needed to go back to her friend Papa's house. And has said that every time we've gotten in the car since. But when we were just about home, and after she had been such a pill for 5 hours, she said to me, "it was a great day, wasn't it Mom?"

Yea, just peachy!!

It was a good trip and we made in back just in time for another monumental event...

Brendan's Preschool Graduation

Brendan has loved going to preschool and we will both miss it. It was so funny though because he was not too excited about graduation itself, he acted quite put out by it all and looks really disgruntled in all the pictures. The only time he liked it is when they got to tell everyone what they wanted to be when they grow up. Apparently Brendan wants to be a clone. I think he has watched Star Wars too many times.

On another note..

...today I felt a little like one of these...

4 blood draws in 4 hours. But it is done and I will know the results by Friday. Although I am really not worried; if I had gestational diabetes, I'm sure I would have had some symptoms. Really it was just more time spent in a waiting room, and we all know how I feel about those. 1 more appointment down and many more to go.

Whatever happened to the common cold?

Brendan has always been my kid that just does things on his own terms. He really doesn't do things unless he wants to and is quite picky about most things. I guess when it comes to "catching" things he is the same way. Not too long ago it was the weird staph infection on his elbow and now he has an infection in the lymph node on his neck. Weird. Corey noticed it last night when he was running around at Carter's baseball game. So I figured we better get it checked. So once again, he will be taking another strong round of antibiotics. Really, whatever happened to just getting a cold, ear infection, or something normal?

Can I just say, this was our 3rd trip to the doctor in 4 days!! I took Kayden for a check-up on Tuesday. Went to my appointment yesterday ( I was there for over 2 hours), and then back to the pediatrician again today. I really just love sitting in waiting rooms, what can I say, I find it so peaceful and relaxing!!

My appointment went fairly well. Everything is so backwards for me this time around. I always have had low amniotic fluid, not this time, it is borderline on the high end so that will be rechecked. I usually dialate early, not so this time either. My doctor is worried about the size of the baby though. He just wants to make sure everything is covered. So even though I passed my first glucose test, I now have to take the 3 hour test and have another ultrasound in 2 weeks. However, he did move my due date up another 4 days. YEAH! I really think everything is fine, this baby might just be big. So I will get to spend another 4-5 hours at the doctor next week and the week after that. Like I said, I really just love waiting rooms.

Swimming with the Sharks... well dolphins anyway

Dolphin Habitat and Secret Garden

Last week, I got to go with Brendan on another preschool field trip. It's always great fun despite the fact that it was really hot and we had to walk quite aways (I really felt that the next day). We went to the Dolphin Habitat and the Secret Garden at the Mirage.

It was kind of fascinating to watch the Dolphins. We were able to watch them from above and below the water.

The Secret Garden

Tigers...

...more tigers...

...and lions
It was really hot and most of the animals were sleeping so after seeing a few Brendan asked if I would just sit down on a bench with him and wait until everyone else was done looking. I was more than willing to oblige him. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed getting to spend some one on one time with him.

A very busy Saturday

This last Saturday was jam packed for us. We had Brendan's t-ball game, then went straight to a primary activity and then we went home for just a little while before we headed out for Corey's work party. We were able to go to a 51's game and a carnival. It was a lot of fun even though we were all pretty tired by the end of the night.

*Carnival*

The carnival was pretty fun even though it was really hot. They had a inflatable slide, bouncy houses, and lots of games. They were giving stuffed animals as prizes and I think Carter tried to win one of each kind. Thank goodness he wasn't able to because we certainly came home with plenty.

*The Game*

After the carnival we headed into the stadium to get settled for the game. Corey's work had reserved the VIP section right along the third baseline. It was so nice. They had dinner all set up for us. The kids loved it because they could just get up and walked around and not be confined to a seat. And, of course, that fact that they could just help themselves to any food and drink didn't add to their excitement.

Carter loved watching the pitcher warm up. They were literally just right in front of us and when they were done they gave him their ball. That just made his night. Then when the mascots came down to meet the kids I thought they would burst with excitement. Brendan and Hailey are still talking about meeting Cosmo the Alien. This was about the third time we have been to a game, and they have all been fun, but we certainly enjoyed all the perks that came with this one. We were all pretty tired and ended up leaving early, but as were leaving one of the employees gave us another game ball because he said he was so impressed with how well the kids behaved. Kayden ended up with that one and was pretty excited about it. I think everyone had a great time and will be talking about it for awhile.

Something I never thought I would do!!

When I was a kid I never, ever liked buzz haircuts. I always swore I would never let my kids have them. Maybe it was because I remember one time when my Dad took my little brother to the beauty college and got him buzzed. They did a terrible job and he had knicks and stuff all over his hair. Plus he has a big cowlick in the front of his hair and it just looked terrible. (Sorry, Nick, that's how I remember it). I think there are many people and kids who look just fine with them, maybe even cute. I still just haven't ever wanted them for my boys. But Carter has been asking if he could have a buzz for awhile. He said he just likes to try different hairstyles and wanted to know what it would look like. I finally gave in, I didn't cut is as short as a real buzz, but I still did it. I don't think he looks bad with it, but I still don't think it's my favorite. He is enjoying not having his hair combed so much though that I don't know if he is going to want anything else for awhile.
The end result!!
