Fun with Family

Last week, my sister and her two kids were able to come and visit for a few days. Since they moved from here, we really only get to see each other two or three times a year, so the kids were so excited to get to spend time with each other. Unfortunately, for them, I was not feeling so well and Hailey ended up with ear infections, so we weren't a real exciting bunch to be around. We did manage to squeeze in a little fun, but really the kids were just content to play with each other without having to have a lot of entertainment. Hopefully we weren't so boring that they won't come again!!
Here's a few pictures of all the excitement

Maybe he had a right to be disgruntled!!

Okay when I took these pictures last Monday during our friendly game of dodge ball, Brendan was not particularly enjoying the moment. Turns out maybe he had a good reason.
Last week Carter was sick for a couple of days, he ran a fever and was achy. Well on Tuesday, Brendan told me he didn't feel well and started running a fever that night. I gave him Motrin and he slept well all night. I figured he just had what Carter had, no big deal. He woke up on Wednesday and was totally fine. He got up, ate a good breakfast, acted totally normal. So I got him dressed and took him to preschool. I was excited because he had a field trip and I was glad he wasn't going to miss it. He got home and played all afternoon. That night when I was getting him undressed and ready for a bath, he started to complain that his arm hurt and winced when we would touch it. We noticed a couple of bumps on his elbow that were a little red, not really a big deal, he had fallen and scraped it up the week before. Once again, we gave him some Motrin, he slept well, no fever, didn't think too much of it. Well, yesterday morning, he still was complaining about it and wouldn't really use it. When I asked where it hurt he always pointed to different spots, but never at his elbow. I figured he must have hurt it somehow and decided to take him to the urgent care. About three hours later, the doctors tells me he is still running a low fever and it's because he has a staph infection from the bumps on his elbow. I was shocked I really didn't think he could be in so much pain from two little spots. Oops!! I felt terrible. Now he is on two heavy antibiotics plus a cream for it. He is much better today and is even using the arm a little. But to look at spots, even now, I still would of never guessed that they were the source of the problem. I will be paranoid about every little scratch from now on. Stuff like this really makes you feel like the "Mother of the Year"!! Sorry Brendan.

How else should you spend your Monday night?!

Seriously, what's better than playing dodgeball and pelting your family members with a giant rubber ball?!!

Better yet, it was all Dad's idea.

Although some family members were a little disgruntled about being hit with the big rubber ball. It's was all in good fun though and feelings were quickly mended.

Sympathy Pains

I won't lie, I'm not really enjoying every minute of this pregnancy. I already feel huge and I really feel old. When I told the kids about it, of course, the older boys have a pretty good understanding about being pregnant, but I'm sure Brendan and Hailey don't fully understand. Brendan actually really doesn't talk much about it except to say that he doesn't want another sister-he wanted a baby boy. Hailey is just trying to figure it all out. She is always trying to lift my shirt and can't figure out why she can't see the baby.
Over the last few weeks, I get really uncomfortable in the evening with heartburn and the baby just seems to ball up inside and doesn't let loose. There has been a little complaining going on around here.
Well, Hailey started saying that he tummy hurts because she has three babies in her stomache. In the middle of the night I could hear her fussing in her room. I layed there for a few minutes hoping she would go back to sleep and I wouldn't have to get up. Then I heard her say that her tummy hurt and it was because of her three babies.
Sorry Hailey, I have a lot of sympathy for you!!

Playing Catch-up

This month is already flying by and I haven't been very good at documenting anything that we have been up to. Well, really there just hasn't been much going on. Carter did finish up his first-ever basketball season this past Saturday. I was really disappointed that is was already over. It was a lot of fun to watch and he was just starting to get the hang of it. His team did really well, he is just looking forward to playing again, and waiting for the team party on Saturday.

Sorry for the lousy pictures, my batteries were about to die and it was only time I didn't have new ones with me.

We also have been enjoying some great weather. When we walk to school in the morning, I even end having to take off my jacket. Hailey's picnic table, that she got for Christmas, even made it outside and she and Brendan have been enjoying some fine dining on the patio.
