California or bust

Our summer was pretty boring this year. Finding a rental house, packing up, moving, unpacking, and getting a house ready to rent took up most of our time. Each summer we try to at least take a quick trip to the beach. We had not been able to work it in to our schedule, but the weekend before school started we knew we had to do it. It was my birthday that weekend too so we knew it would be a great way to celebrate.

The younger kids had their meet the teacher on Friday afternoon and the boys had their high school orientation on Friday evening. Since we were starting new schools we knew we better not miss these things so we weren't even able to leave for California until Saturday morning. We woke up and left by 6, made one stop for breakfast and hit the beach by lunch time. 

The beach is always such a fun place. We can just spend hours there. This time we went to Oceanside and it was a lot of fun. The waves were pretty strong that day though so we had to be a little more careful. Emery went under more than a few times, but we still had a great day.

I always take a ton of pictures at the beach. There is just something about the beach that makes such good pictures. 

We spent the whole afternoon there. We always do, we just can't pull ourselves away. When we were finally worn out, we went and checked into our hotel we and covered in sand. I felt so bad for the people who would have to clean our room the next day, there was sand everywhere. Although the hotel was walking distance from the beach so I'm sure they are pretty used to it. 

I started to process of getting kids cleaned up, while Corey took the older boys in search of some pizza to bring back to the room. We all enjoyed having a nice hot shower, eating good pizza, and our view of the city. The next morning we had to make our way home, and even though our trip was short, it was a perfect way to end our summer.
